General Settings

Language

Set the interface language:

• English
• 中文 (Chinese)

Theme

Choose your preferred appearance:

• System - Match your Mac's appearance
• Light - Always use light mode
• Dark - Always use dark mode

Launch at Login

Enable to start Yark automatically when you log in.

Show in Menu Bar

Keep Yark accessible from the menu bar for quick access.

Transcription

Engine

Choose your transcription engine:

• Yark Cloud — Default, no setup required. Supports Normal and Thinking modes.
• BYOK — Bring Your Own Key with Google AI Studio or Vertex AI.

Language

Set the default language for speech recognition. Yark will automatically detect the language if set to "Auto".

Output Styles

Choose how AI enhances your text:

• Magic - Default polishing for natural flow
• Professional - Formal, business-appropriate tone
• Casual - Conversational tone
• Custom - Define your own enhancement prompt

App-Specific Styles

Configure different output styles per application. For example, use casual tone in iMessage and formal tone in Mail.

Account

Devices

View and manage devices connected to your account. You can have up to 3 devices active at a time.

Subscription

View your current plan and manage billing.

Data & Privacy

Cloud Processing

All transcription uses cloud-based multimodal AI models via Vertex AI. Your audio is processed and immediately discarded — zero data retention.

Data Storage

Yark does not store your transcriptions on our servers. All history and recordings are stored locally on your device.
